Covid 19 Menu
The school will be offering a reduced range of meals during the re-opening period (from 1st June 2020). There will be both hot food and a 'packed lunch' made available to children that are attending school. The meals will continue to be free to those children in Reception, Years 1 and Years 2. The meal will cost £2.30 for all other children (unless on Pupil Premium Free School Meals). The menu will be the same every week and consists of family favourites. These meals have been chosen to appeal to children, are easier to prepare for a smaller kitchen team and can be served in a safe manner.
Children at Broke Hall School can all enjoy a healthy and nutritious meal prepared on site by Vertas (EATS) catering staff. Pupils can decide on a daily basis which type of meal they wish to have – they will let their class teacher know at registration. This will be from a choice of:
Hot School Meal,
Jacket potato (Mon – Weds only),
Pick & Mix
Lunch break is from 12.00 noon to 1.00 p.m. for Reception Years 1 and 2 and from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m for Years 3 – 6.
Hot School Meal / Jacket / Pick & Mix
Broke Hall School lunches are provided by EATS Catering (Vertas). A link to their website can be found below. The hot school meal, Jacket Potato or Pick & Mix options all cost £2.30 per day. This should be paid for in advance either through your Parentmail account or via the cash machine in the school reception.
Jacket Potato is served with one or two fillings and a choice vegetables
We encourage our children to make healthy food choices and ask that packed lunches do not contain sweets, chocolate bars, nuts or peanut butter.
A point of safety: No glass bottles please.
Universal Free School Meals
Since September 2014 the government has paid for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 to have a school meal every day of the year.
Free School Meals (Pupil Premium)
The government provide a premium payment to schools to assist children from lower income backgrounds. This payment ensures that those eligible children continue to receive a free school meal in Years 3 – 6. However, the payment also provides further benefits for those children and can be applied for whatever year group your child is in.
If you think your child might be eligible please follow the link below to Suffolk County Council’s webpage. Every step of the process is carried out confidentially and discreetly.
The money the School receives in this way pays for greater support for each child and is a boost to the school budget. Your support in this matter is greatly appreciated!
